I wore the montrail rogue racer straight out of the box at Holiday Lake 50k ( I know.. not supposed to wear brand new shoes to a race) I had been anticipating the arrival of these shoes in the 2011 montrail line up since I saw the demos last summer on a friend who tests shoes for montrail. I saw that they aidstation was selling them at pre-race for HL50k and HAD to have a pair!
These shoes did not disappoint in the slightest! I normally run in masochists and streaks and founds these ( of course lighter at 7.6 oz) but the cushioning was such a surprise I felt SO bouncy!! My feet NEVER hurt the entire race, and I was also delighted post race to discover no blisters or blackened toenails! Which is an issue I've had even running road marathons.
Also had 2 stream crossings during the race and the rogue racers drain EXTREMELY well.
These are great racing shoes. I would most definitely wear them at a 50 miler as well as the shorter ultras/trail races.
